Why a Circle?

A circle is the strongest shape that can be cut out of any material subject to the forces of expansion and contraction.  The Road Mole circular repair is therefore stronger than the traditional square or rectangular shape, which is prone to deterioration, particularly in the corners.

The Atkins report for Adept 2010 Section 3.18 states:-

“The ideal repair shape would be circular, as this does not result in any corners, where compaction of the infill material is inherently more difficult.  In reality the common repair shape is rectangular with corner angles of 90 degrees”
